Boca Masters Swim Team
Boca Masters welcomes adults 18 and over who would like to participate in a coached swim workout for fitness and or competition. All levels are welcome! We are associated with Gold Coast Masters, the Florida Gold Coast Masters LMSC (Local Masters Swimming Committee) and USMS (United States Masters Swimming).
SCHEDULE:
Coached workouts are held in
Mondays: 5:30 - 7:00 AM and PM
Wednesdays: 5:30 - 7:00 AM and PM
Fridays: 5:30 - 7:00 AM and PM
Saturdays: 8:00 - 9:30 AM -the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month except holidays
*NEXT SATURDAY PRACTICE IS JULY 18TH from 8:00 - 9:30 AM.
Boca Masters Program fees:
Come visit us at any scheduled practice, workout for free, and talk with the coach. If you decide to join our fees are as follows:
Resident: $90 per quarter
Non-Resident: $108 per quarter
A resident is someone residing within the City of
Qtr 1: 10/1 - 12/31
Qtr 2: 1/1 - 3/31
Qtr 3: 4/1 - 6/30
Qtr 4 7/1 - 9/30
Program participants are required to be registered with United States Masters Swimming (USMS). USMS registration ($40 annually) includes a subscription to USMS Swimmer Magazine. Coach has information and forms. The team is separated into AM and PM groups – when registering you will select which group AM (Coach Randy) or PM (Coach AJ) that you will attend. Fees are not prorated.

About the Coaches:
Randy Nutt (AM coach) has been involved in South Florida Swimming since 1970 when he learned to swim under Coach June Woolger at the Jack Nelson Swim Club. Earning All-American & State Champion honors at Nova High School he went on to lead Marshall University to four Southern Conference Swimming Championships graduating as captain and school record holder in the 50 free.
After college Nutt turned to open water swimming completing the 12.5 Mile Swim Around Key West and the 28 Mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. In 1996 he became the first male to swim 21 miles around
His expertise in open water swimming turned from competitor to coach as he successfully trained
Nutt is on the USMS National Long Distance Committee, very active with the sports governing bodies, and a delegate to USAS -the United States Aquatic Sports Annual Convention. He currently is Vice-Chair of the Florida Gold Coast Local Masters Swimming Committee.
In addition to coaching Boca Masters Nutt runs several companies: Aqua Moon Adventures which creates and directs swimming events, clinics, and training camps; SwimPaddles.com which manufactures swim training equipment and Nutt Realty, Inc.

Twenty-five accomplished individuals from 12 countries, covering all aspects of the open water swimming world, were nominated. Voters were asked to select one individual who embodies the spirit of open water swimming, possesses a sense of adventure, tenacity and perseverance that open water swimmers are known for, and who positively influenced the world of open water swimming in 2008.
Edith van Dijk, a former six-time world open water swimming champion and 2005 Open Water Swimmer of the Year, came out of retirement after giving birth to a daughter to finish 14th in the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim. She closed out her remarkable career with three fourth-place finishes at the 2008 European Open Water Swimming Championships in the 5K, 10K and 25K.

AJ Shepherd (PM coach) has been involved with swimming since the early 90s. He swam competitively through his college years at
AJ began coaching in Florida at Florida Atlantic Swim Team in the fall of 2004 and wrapped things up in the spring of 2006 after producing Palm Beach County All-Stars and Junior Olympic place winners during his term there as the Head Age Group Coach
AJ returned to coaching in the spring of 2007 at the DeVos-Blum Family YMCA, during his time there he grew the team in numbers and led his athletes to their first Junior Olympic Qualifying times. In addition to coaching the age group program AJ was responsible for reviving the Master’s program at the Y. His athletes traveled to Y Master Nationals in the spring of 2008 and many came home with top eight finishes
