An overseas territory of the UK Bermuda boasts 75 miles of dramatic coastline. Rich in history it lies in an astoundingly beautiful stretch of the Atlantic a mere 650 miles east of North Carolina. Flights from New York and other eastern US cities reach Bermuda’s shores in less than two hours. The open water swimming events take place in beautiful Harrington Sound. Bermuda’s water temperature in October averages 78. 8:30 AM Sunrise Yoga & swimmers streatching on the Grotto Beach. 10:00 AM Meet at front of Grotto Bay for transportation to group swim (optional). 3:30 PM MANDATORY pre-event briefing at Palmetto Gardens (former site of the old Palmetto Hotel) located on Harrington Sound. This is the location of the event finish. Event t-shirts and goodie bags will be distributed and the event course, timeline, rules, and questions will be answered at this meeting. After this meeting and weather permitting we have tentative plans to take a boat tour of the course. 7:00 PM Pasta loading dinner at The Grotto Bay Beach Resort (headquarters hotel) Sunday October 17, 2010
9:00 AM -Check in at the front lobby of Grotto Bay. Bus transportaion will then be provided to the race start. We will post the race day timeline with specific check in times on Saturday evening in the front lobby of the Grotto Bay Beach Resort. 10:00 AM – Start 10K (Other events start in a staggered fashion from different locations)
2:00 PM (approx) Awards Ceremony at the beach area at Palmetto Bay. After the awards ceremony bus transportaion will be provided back to the Grotto Bay Beach Resort. Evening – Social at The Swizzle Inn (located next to Grotto Bay).

***For travel to Bermuda, you must have a current/valid passport. It is your responsibility to meet all entrance and departure requirements. Please check with the airlines and your government for additional requirements. ***It is also a good idea to join the event’s mailing list. ***If you decide to change the distance category you have entered you must do so by October 8, 2009 with the event director Randy Nutt. ***Residents of Bermuda will register locally, check with Dolphin Swim Team for information as your entries will be handled by them. All off island participants must register with Aqua Moon Adventures. ***Due to the nature and complexity of this event no refunds will be given for any reason including event cancellation. The race director(s) reserve the right to modify any and all information relating to this race at any time. As a condition of participation in this event all participants will be required to sign a Waiver/Release of Liability and also an event authorization form at the mandatory check in.

Swimmers competed in distances ranging from 10k to 800 yards in scenic Hamilton Sound. On-island swimmers competed with people from all over the world, including Duncan Taylor, newly appointed governor of the Cayman Islands, who competed in the 4k. His wife Marie Beatrice Taylor swam the 800yd. Swapnali Yadav, a ten-year-old girl from Mumbai, India finished the 10k to the cheers of her family and onlookers. Canada, Dubai, England, and the US all had swimmers competing in temperate 78F water. John Legge, a local from Southampton, took first place in the10k swim. The Governor of Bermuda came out to hand out awards to the top finishers. Aqua Moon Adventures, Dolphin Swim Team of Bermuda and Bermuda Open Water Swimmers organized the event.
